Members making a difference in pension battle. Spread the word. Keep it up!

We are having some success, but the battle is far from over. We have slowed the government down and forced them to talk to us not only about safeguarding your pensions, but about improvements we have wanted for a long time.

The McGuinty government  is threatening to pass a law to force us to give up control of jointly trusteed pension plans – OPT, CAAT, OMERS, and HOOPP.  Pension plan members would lose control of their money and may get lower benefits. Retired members could lose inflation protection. Every single member of those plans needs to stand up and say you will not let that happen.

If you haven’t yet had the chance to add your voice to this all-important campaign, please join the 18,000 members who have. Email your MPP, no matter what party he or she is from. Talk to your friends and neighbours about the importance of decent pensions for all. Go to the website, www.amatteroftrust.org for the facts, to find out what you can do, and to see what others are doing and saying.

You’ve worked hard for your pension savings. You earned them. They’re yours. Make sure it stays that way.

We need to make progress in Ontario.

Progress moves at the speed of trust.

And we can’t trust Dalton McGuinty.
